# Use of Automated Tools

Where we use them

We use automated language tools to write up public records — company registrations, securities filings, permits and similar official documents — for our regional and city sites, and to draft headline and summary suggestions that a person then reviews.

These items are written from the facts in the record itself, not rewritten from another publication's article. Before an item is published, every figure in it is checked back against the source document; an item that states a number the record does not contain is discarded rather than corrected.

How those items are marked

Every automated item is:

• labeled "Automated report" on the article and in listings,
• bylined "Australia Wire Newsroom" — never a person's name,
• attributed, naming and linking the record it is drawn from,
• canonicalised to the original source where the item summarises a single piece someone else published,
• dated, with the date of the underlying event as well as the publication date.

What we do not do

• We do not publish automated content under a human byline.
• We do not create fictitious reporters, photographs or credentials.
• We do not publish automated items that exist only to add pages or to influence search rankings. Each item must carry information a reader can use.

Accuracy

Automated summaries can be wrong. They are checked against their sources before publication where our settings require review, and every one carries the same corrections route as the rest of the site. If you find an error, tell us at editorial@australiawire.news and we will correct it.
